Layers + drop down menu

I've created a drop down menu using layers, tables, and an auto shape, only
to find it won't do exactly what I need it to do. I've started the process
over again following the information on this site
http://www.gskywalkers.com/layers/index.htm. The problem is that I don't want
to use the interactive buttons, I'd like to create a table and use an
autoshape with fill effects. I was able to place the autoshape inside the
layer before so it would move with the layer, but now I can't seem to get it
to work after following the steps on the above website. If I move the layer,
the autoshape stays where it is. Also, if I try to insert a table inside the
layer it's invisible. I've been using Buyens' Frontpage book, but it doesn't
have any applicable information. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any help
would be greatly appreciated!

Autoshapes are positioned with Absolute Positioning, and only really work in IE browsers.

Drawn shapes of all kinds, including autoshapes, are a very difficult
feature to use, and they only work in IE. As a result, they appear on

The problem with autoshapes not moving around as you want is because
authoshapes use absolute positioning, and the rest of your page
probably doesn't. This is another of my top ten traps.

You really should look for another way of getting the effect you want.

Ok, I've given up on the autoshapes and am trying to follow the directions on
this site http://www.gskywalkers.com/layers/tools.htm using buttons.

The problem is with this step: "Next, Highlight the Products Button Layer by
clicking on it with the 4 way arrow and then click on "insert layer". This
will display a new layer directly over the Products button layer. You can
highlight this new layer and move it over to the side for easier viewing
until you are done with it."

When I try to add buttons into this layer they are not visible (I've even
adjusted the z-index). The only way I can see the contents of this layer is
when I drag it over the menu button (only the part fitting inside the
original layer is visible). Obviously, this is not creating a drop down menu
like I'd like it to. Any ideas?
