layout changed when opening a word97 document in word200 or word2002

My problem is the following :

Have documents created in Word97.
In Word 97 all works well but when opening the document in word200 or
word2002 the layout is corrupted.
All kind of figures like arrows and text boxes are moved to other
places on the page.

So the text is ok but things do no longer have the right position

Any suggestions ?
