Layout Mailmerge Fields

I am using an CVS as datasource for a mailmerge document. How do i declare
the layout for that field (if it is bold, italic, underlined) in the
datasource?

I've tried it in html but that isn't working because it just returns
<b>sample</b>.

Did you mean a CSV (comma delimited plain text) data file? If so you apply
the formatting in the merge document, not the data file.
