Believe it or not, I'm still using Office 2001 (Classic), within OSX10.4.5

Can you explain how to activate directory service - I've never been able to
get this to work, always says "the specified server could not be found" -
how do you find a correct LDAP address for it?

IIRC there were four public LDAP servers pre-configured in 2001. None opf
these work any more - all the public LDAP directories have gone out of
business.

If you are in a corporate setting, your IT department may be running an LDAP
server of their own. You need to contact them to get the address of it.
