Russ, First thatnks a million for helping out. Yes, I'm following the
directions you reference. I'm perplexed because my Contacts works fine
...
it's just that no addresses are visible when I go to my Address Book.
From
the directions you reference:
How to Install the Outlook Address Book Service
1. On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
2. Click to select View or change existing directories or address books,
and
then click Next. [[Russ, when I do this I get a "the specified account was
not found. It might have been deleted". When I go to the next window
where
the directories and addr books should be listed there are no entries]]
3. If your Outlook Address Book is listed, click Cancel, and then go to
the
steps in the "How to Mark Your Contact Folder for Use with Your Address
Book"
section.
4. If your Outlook Address Book is not listed, click Add.
5. Click to select Additional Address Books, and then click Next.
6. Click to select Outlook Address Book, and then click Next. [[Russ, when
I
do this I get a "this account or directory type already exists and cannot
be
specified twice" msg]]
7. Click OK when you receive the prompt that the address book you added
will
not start until you click Exit from the File menu.
8. Click Finish.
9. Click Exit from the File menu, and then restart Outlook.
How to Mark Your Contact Folder for Use with Your Address Book [[Russ,
this
part works as expected .. no problems here]
1. In the Folder List, click to select the folder you would like to use
with
the Address Book. If you do not see the Folder List, click Folder List on
the
View menu.
2. On the File menu, point to Folder, and then click Properties for your
folder name.
3. On the Outlook Address Book tab, click to select Show this folder as an
e-mail address book, type a descriptive name, and then click OK.
I assume my profile is the Outlook.pst file. If not, I don't know where
it
is or what it's called. I created the new Outlook.pst file after
uninstalling/re-installing MS Office Pro 2003 the first time I started
Outlook. The warning came up -- as expected -- saying it could not find
Outlook.pst. It then took me to a "create or open" the .pst file window.
That's where I created it.

It sounds like you many have a corrupt profile. Have you tried creating a
new one? How did you create your current one and is it configured with a
valid mail transport and Data File?

Russ, I'm using Outlook 2003, not using LDAP, and am getting the same
error.
When I go to view/change directories or address books, I get a "the
specified
account was not found. It might have been deleted" msg. After
clicking
OK,
the next window (Directories and Address Books) is empty. I can't see
any
directories/addr books to remove them. I'm having a similar problems
with
outlook address book. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Outlook, created a
new
Outlook.pst file, but still no luck. Any ideas? Can I manually delete
them
outside of Outlook? If so, I'm not sure where they are. Thanks for

I assume, then, that you do not use an LDAP? If so, remove the LDAP
and
replace it with the Outlook Address Book. If you don't know how,
provide
your Outlook version so someone can tell you.

When trying to view 'contacts', the message "can't find LDAP
directory
server
(81)" appears with an "OK" check-box. After clicking OK, or closing
the
window the message continues to appear.
Can anyone help with how to solve this annoying problem?
