LDAP issue when checking names on new mail messages

When I create a new mail message and click "check name" to fill out the
reciepient's address I get a message:
LDAP Server error
Directory service denied
Access Verify Authorization Settings for this service
Error: 10049

The text is very close to what is above.

Can someone point me towards what I am doing incorrectly. I have set up
the user as an exchange account, set all the proper settings to look to my
LDAP server.
We have other users running Outlook 2001 (OS ( users) and they have no
problems with getting the global Address List.

Either you need to enable authentication settings in the Entourage LDAP
account dialog, or LDAP might not be enabled on the server. Note that
Outlook 2001 uses MAPI to get to the address book, not LDAP. That's why it
works for them
