Greetings,
I am using Outlook 2003 (11.8010.6568) SP2 running on a Windows XP OS.
(Dell Optiplex GX260). I have installed Oracle Connector for Outlook and an
LDAP service. The LDAP service is not operating correctly.
1. Under the "Tools/Find" function in Address Book, the "Display Name"
field returns a timed-out. Only if I specify(query) an either "First name"
or "Last name" field do I get a valid return.
2. Partial name variants are not supported (or don't seem to be)
example a) Rob/Bob/Robert or Tom/Thomas don't return variants
example b)<firstname> and <lastname> only returns an exact match, not
variants of matches
(e.g. "Tom Smith" only returns no matches, not Thomas Smith whereas in
Eudora LDAP, T Smith returns any Smith with "t" in a prior name.)
3. In LDAP there appear to be 26 fields (as found using Eudora). Outlook
returns only 7 fields, yet has the capacity for 28 fields. Seems to me there
is a missing something-or-other that maps the appropriate fields from LDAP to
Outlook Address Book.
I have configured the following information under Mail\Directory
Service(LDAP settings)\Microsoft LDAP directory\Search\search base:
"ou=people, o=<orgname>, c=US"
Are there any other search base options that will help me map from the
correct LDAP fields to the correct outlook fields? Or perhaps some other
settings or script?
HELP!
TIA
