LDB file launches automatically

I have a Office 2003 Access database on a server. The
ldb file lauches automatically. Even if I open up
Explorer and go to the directly it immediately opens the
ldb file. I can delete the ldb file from the folder but
it automatically re-launches it again. This is preventing
me from making changes to the database. Does anyone know
why?
