.ldb will not go away

I have a DB that has suddenly started causing some probs. DB in production -
NOT use)

Not always - but most of the time when I close the DB it will not close out
the .ldb file.
And I can't then delete the .ldb file with out rebooting.

I have NO IDEA where to start in running down this problem is coming from.

Any help here will be appreciated.

The database is being closed properly.
I have been able to pin down that when the .ldb does not go away is tier to
another errer (an error I have posted in queries) - so I think my first step
is to fix that error and see if the problem is solved.
