Hi Christine

It sounds like you need a table of contents, not an index.

In Word 2002, click where you want the table to appear, and choose Insert > Reference > Index and Tables. Click on the Table of
Contents tab, and click OK. The default will give you dot leaders.

Creating a table of contents in this way depends on your having used Word's heading styles for the text that you want to appear in
the table of contents (ie for the "Introduction", "Middle" and "End" text). There's more information in Word's help. Search for
"create a table of contents".

If you really are after an index, then click where you want the index to appear. Insert > Reference > Index and Tables. Click on the
Index tab. Under "Type" choose Indented. And click Right-aligned page numbers. Creating an index in this way depends on your having
marked up the entries you want to appear in the index.

Hope this helps.

.
Hi Christine,

Set a dot leader tab at the Page location.
This can be done in a style.

If you are generating the index using the Insert menu,
Index and Tables selection, Word will do this
automatically.

Hope this helps,
Kent
