Leading subheads for sorted data

I have data in a worksheet (for a glove catalog) with columnar fields: Glove No., Glove Name, Category, page number. I've sorted the data first by Category, then Item Name, then Item Number. Is there a function that will insert a leading subhead based on the sort by Category? So, for example, "Chemical Resistant" will print as a subhead above all the items that have that value in the "Category" field.

Look in help for SubTotal. It will do what you want. Post back with any
problems.

Bob,

Thank you so much. I had a feeling it was there - somehow I just wasn't finding the right hit when I was searching in help or the forum - now I don't know how I missed it! I'm afraid I'm not too well-versed in Excel (I'm a graphic designer and don't use that program very often).

Thanks again,
Bev
