leave message as marked unread after synch with treo 650

Messages downloaded to Treo appear marked as read in outlook 2003. Can you
set outlook so that they are not marked unread until opened in outlook?

That's a function of whatever tool you're using to sync the Treo. It's not
anything Outlook can affect.
