leave messages option

I am using Ms Outlook (not outlook express). I want to leave messages on the server
I click the appropriate box in advanced options, click OK (there is no apply button) and all is well until I exit and restrart MS Outlook...then it has reverted to unchecked and deletes the message from the server after downloading
Any answers?
