Leave shortcut off Quick Launch if not used prior to update

I use multiple programs at once so space on my taskbar is at a premium,
including the Quick Launch/shorcut space for my choice applications -- the
Outlook update (and any update) should first check to see if I had the
application shortcut in my Quick Lauch prior to the update rather than
placing it there by default after the update. While I now just delete it
after the update, it would nice to avoid this little nuisance. I always
prefer to choose when and where to use shortcuts.

On a more general note, user settings for any program should always remain
intact upon update unless they are changes necessary for the security and/or
stability of the application.

Thanks.
