Left Alt Shift hangs Outlook.

Hi.
As of a few days ago, after a series of windows updates, my outlook 2007
began to hang.

I noticed that everytime I would press (Left Alt + shift) to change my
language setting to Spanish, outlook will hang.
Not responding ... Send report after app is closed.

Can anyone help?
Thanks

I have the exact same problem with Japanese.

It does work in Outlook Safe Mode,

I noticed that there have to be reminders that pop up for Outlook to crash.

Here's what popped up in the event viewer:

"The Windows Installer service entered the stopped state.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp."

Thanks

Well, then the issue is with the reminders and not with LEFT ALT+SHIFT ;-)
Try starting Outlook with the resetreminders switch first;
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /resetreminders

Did you perhaps install a coded pack on your machine to play all types of
multimedia files? Several packs contain faulty codecs and when a sound needs
to be played (like the reminder sound) and then goes via such a codec,
Outlook will crash. Uninstall that codec pack and try again.

I have the same problem when trying to switch to Finnish. The problem
started after the last batch of updates. The same thing happens if I try to
change the language from the language bar.

The only workaround I've found is that if I need to use Finnish alphabet in
my email I need to write the message in Word or notepad (no problem there!)
and then copy and paste it to my email.

Same here! From english to french. This is really annoying, it happens
every time I want to reply to an e-mail and hit (Left Alt + shift).

I've disabled all plugins

Well I found my solution, hmm it's a bit ironic

Control Panel: Add/Remove Office Outlook Connector
Then I removed from Outlook: (e-mail address removed)

Now outlook runs fine again.

You're right; typo in the brain, haha. Sometimes they use clean-, sometimes
they use reset- and just when you think you've got it memorized, one is
actually the other way around ;-)

Works just fine for me with the Outlook Connector installed.
English version of Windows (7)
English Office 2007
Additional Dutch and German proofing tools installed.

Cycling with ALT+SHIFT works as it should. When installing the Outlook
Connector, make sure it matches the base language of your version of
Outlook.

I've got the same problem. I have Ukrainian and Russian keyboard
layouts installed and pressing Left Alt+Shift freezes the Outlook.

The problem seems to be indeed in Outlook Connector, however the
problem is recent as I have had Outlook connector for a while, while
it started freezing only a couple of weeks ago. Note that simply
disabling the plug-in that Outlook Connector installs doesn't fix the
problem.

What actually does fix the problem (as someone above figured out) is
removing Connector's account from the list of e-mail accounts (no need
to actually uninstall it). For this you have to go to [Tools->Account
Settings] and then from the list of e-mail accounts [Remove] the one
that corresponds to your Windows Live/Outlook Online/Whatever it is
called account.

SolodOn,

Thank you. Your suggestion helped me.
Does anybody know what is wrong with Connector that causes such a strange
behavior?

Perfect! I actually kept looking for a new version of connector and found it
thanks to you. I wish they had a note on the 12.1 version that a new Beta was
available...
