left margin of show cut off

M

Maarten Lemmens

I have an important official presentation this Satruday and have a problem to
which I don't find an answer in the help, in the newsgroups and in the other
FAQs I found on the web.
Rrecently, at a conference, I let a colleague presenting just before me in
the session use my laptop, and at some point she pressed a key, resulting in
some strange long beep, and the final result of this was that (1) the
presentation often froze (but this may be because it was reading from her USB
key) and (2), more dramatically, the left margin of the projected slides was
cut off, even though on the screen of the laptop all was fine. Later that day
I had another presentation in another room and I had the same problem, which
tells me that it's a computer problem, not a projector problem (I restarted
my laptop).
I have my public defense of my habilitation this Saturday, so I'm a bit
worried here. Any ideas, please?
Thx,
-Maarten.

It sounds like either the monitor resolution was changed on the 2nd monitor.
Check under the Start => Settings => Control Panel => Display =>
Settings. Ideally the two monitors should be set to the same resolution.

It is also possible that the use display setting under PowerPoint Edit
window Slideshow => Set up =>Slideshow resolution, has been changed. Try
changing it to Use Current Resolution.
