"Leftover" attachments in MyNotebook

I have a page in which I had copied a file (via copy/paste) and had indicated
OneNote to make a copy of the file and add a link to it. After I deleted the
page, I noticed that the attachment is still on the OneNote directory. I
emptied the deleted pages folder and optimized the files but OneNote does not
delete the attachment.

Simple question: Is the attachment supposed to be deleted by OneNote or not?
If not, is there any way to find out if the attachment is referred to by
some other page in OneNote? Does OneNote provide a way to "purge" these
unreferenced files out of the MyNotebook folders? If not, this probably
should be added as part of the Optimize operation.

Hi,

OneNote makes its own copy and that is what the link in OneNote links
to.

The thinking is, I think, that if the original file is inadvertently
deleted that the link from OneNote doesn't break.

When you delete a OneNote page ... isn't that sacrilege <grin/>? ... I
don't think the linked file is deleted automatically.

And, I am not aware of a way to know easily if another page is linked
to the same file except that I *think* that each page gets its own
copy of the file if you link to it more than once. So if you know that
a link to Test.txt was on the page you deleted it is probably safe to
delete Test.txt, since it won't be linked to from another OneNote page
.... I think. :)
