We've seen this error in the past and it's most often related to the Works
addin.

In the article there are a couple workarounds to resolve this. If you are
using Word2002, the issue has been resolved with SP3. There is also a hotfix
available. If you call in a support incident, the fix can be sent to you.
Since this is a known issue, there would not be a charge for the incident.
