Length of string that a text box can contain

Is there a way to know how many characters of Arial 10 characters can a text
box contain before being cut off.
Please see my post titled,

Arial is a proportional-width font, so the answer would depend on the actual
characters. The letter "W" 20 times will need a lot more space than the
letter "I" 20 times, particularly in a sans serif (i.e. no "feet" on the
letters) font such as Arial. You could test to see how many times a wide
letter such as "W" will fit, or you could use a medium-width letter such as
"T", but there is some guesswork involved.
There is not much point to asking people to search for another posting. If
you need to repeat some of the information in that thread, copy the
information, or at least provide a link to the thread.

You might take a look at the code in the sample at Stephen Lebans' site
http://www.lebans.com/textwidth-height.htm

I did not understand that the question was specifically involved with the
linking. I think I supposed that the other posting contained a detailed
description of the problem of fitting variable amounts of text into a single
line, or something of that sort. In a report the text boxes can be set to
grow, or several fields can be concatenated, but I didn't think that was the
issue at hand. I am not very familiar with linking to Excel, so I doubt I
could help in that area even if I had time to examine the mdb file.
