leopard and excel view and print problems

Since upgrading to Mac OSx 10.5 leopard excel is behaving strangely. I
can view and print some spreadsheets, others I can only view, but not
print or even print preview. The behavior is not consistent. It seems
to happen more on G4 macs. Anyone else having the same problems or
have any solutions?

Haven't moved to Leopard as yet, but as a generals measure:

Has Office been fully updated (11.3.8 is the current build) and have you
checked to see if there are updated drivers for the printers?

I have been having the same problems. For the most part I can only get
very few things to print on my spreadsheet (usually not any cell data
and just the bare bones of an embedded graph) and print preview never
shows anything. I am running a G4 with the latest updates for Leopard
and Office.

I did notice that when I didn't have a printer installed (Leopard
deleted them all?), Office crashed every time. I have had no problem
with Word so I don't think it's my printer driver now (which is
correctly installed now).

Also, in addition, my default page size refuses to change. It is stuck
at a 4in by 4in print area (which I never even set). Any suggestions
for this view problem?

It seems like the most common problems associated with Leopard are
print-related. Further, almost every aspect of printing is controlled by the
OS & device driver, *not* the program calling for the print service. Since I
haven't gone to it yet I really can't offer anything specific other than to
point you to the Apple Discusions forum:

http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=235

If you have issues that have arisen since installing it that *weren't*
issues in a a prior OS X version it's safe to assume that the solution (if
there is one at this time) will have to be resolved from that end, as
nothing has changed in Office 2004 that would cause those problems. Apple's
the one marketing the "use your current programs" hype but apparently there
are still a few bugs in Leopard that need to be addressed. Keep in mind that
jumping on *any* new product - hardware or software - when it's first
released makes you a part of the final beta testing - often referred to as
"field testing" or "consumer-based quality control analysis":)

In the meantime;

Make sure Office is up-to-date,
Repair Disk Permissions,
Check for printer driver updates

It was odd because the problem was only on my G4 not G5 mac. I read
your reply today and checked for updates and just installed the 11.3.9
update. It fixed the problem. Guess this risk is inherent in early
adoption of software. Thanks.

I have been having similar problems as well. Both my iMac and my
Macbook are doing the same thing. Not only can I not preview or
print, but excel is reformatting the view. A spreadsheet that was
once on one page now takes up 6. Checked the document format,
margins, etc... but can't get it fixed. Called MS and they claimed I
had a corrupted user. Built a new user and reinstalled MS Office
suite and it worked fine for about a day and a half. Let you know if
I find a solution.

Good luck!
