Lesson Plans or Class Schedules

Any thoughts as to using project for lesson plans or class schedules, course
outlines, syllabi, etc.? Any tips on how to set this up when you are not
going to be scheduling in any resources due to the nature of using Project
this way? Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi,

If you don't schedule in any resources (not even the classrooms) what will
Project have to calculate for you?
I think you woill need both teachers and classrooms as work resources.
Project could then propose a schedule based on Resource leveling with the
"leveling can adjust individual assignments" off.
Been there, that works.
When you also want to verify the students' availability the whole becomes
tricky. Did something teh like in 99 but forgot most of the solution.
I am to meet a customer on class scheduling next Thursday, curious what the
requirements will be.

I am looking for Project to help set up a whole quarter or a whole semester
of class work. If I enter the units and then the assignments as sub-tasks
under the unit headings, then Project will help calculate how many days/weeks
each course will cover. Saves time hand-counting, especially when I have
approximately 100 different courses to enter. It is also easy to adjust
assignment lengths, as some assignments will be less than 1 day, some may be
a 3 or 4 day assignment. There may be another software that will do this,
but Project looks to me to be an easy way for scheduling Lesson Plans and
Class Schedules, and I was looking for any tips or to hear from others who
might have tried something like this. Thank you for your reply.

So you will not use Project to schedule, OK, that is definitely possible.
