Letter C lock up

T

Tim Ryan

While using MS Word, (2002) I have experienced a locking
up of the letter "c" while typing. The only way that I
have found to clear this issue is to reboot the machine.
Any ideas to what might be causing this issue and is there
another way to clear this issue without having the reboot?

Thanks,

Tim

Hi Tim,

If you have problems with the c, v, t, and h keys, and are using Windows NT
Workstation 4.0, it may be a known problem:

If it's just the "c" key, it might be a problem with the KeyBindings
(shortcut keys). To verify that, you could start Word with the /a switch
(in the Windows Start menu, Run... enter "Winword.exe /a").
Or you could print your custom shortcuts and look for something fishy (File
Print...).

Or look for an AutoCorrect entry for "c".
Though I understood your "locking up" as meaning that the key does work for
a while, and then suddenly stops working. This would pretty much exclude
KeyBindings and AutoCorrect...
