Ok, I've got a tricky question about directing print jobs.
My client uses MS Word for the most part and there are 4 local printers
scattered about the office that are convenient for printing envelopes from.
There's also a multi-function copier that will eventually become their
central printer/fax/scanner/etc.
What I'd like to do is find a way to allow the local printer the user
prefers to remain their default printer so that they can print envelopes and
quick documents from them, but at the same time have all letters requiring
letterhead to be directed toward the copier.
As it is, I have a document template that has an invisible empty header on
the first page and is set up to print letterhead (tray 2 on copier) for the
first page, and blank stationary (tray 3) on subsequent pages. However
these settings are lost if the default printer is not the copier. The tray
assignments change to the default of the printer that is currently the
default.
Does anyone have any idea how I can direct either all traffic BUT envelopes
to the copier, or direct all traffic BUT letterhead to local printers? It
seems like this should be a pretty common practice, I just haven't found any
way to do it the way I need.
