Letters overprint in safari and mail after office install

I just installed Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 - when I run Safari, letters on many website (including Google) overprint. In the Mail program, same problem. Anyone else have this problem? Or know a fix? I am considering uninstalling.

I think most people have cured that one with a power-off reboot.

It forces OS X to rebuild the font caches.
