Leveling Confusion

I'm working on project server 03 and set up a series of tasks assigned to one
resource. All the tasks currently start on the same day. The resource is set
to 90%. I'm trying to use leveling to move the tasks out based on the
resource having 90% of his day available for the task. There are no priorites
set on the tasks. Instead of creating a stair case look, as I expected,
leveling has put in delays and moved tasks so they are seperated by a week of
no work or are over allocated in a given day.

Since the tasks obviously cannot take place at the same time, why don't you
simply link them together with a Finish-to-Start (FS) depenency? That would
solve the problem nicely and you would not need to mess with the built-in
Leveling tool in the software. Let us know.
