Leveling inconsistancy

I'm working on project server 03 and set up a series of tasks assigned to one
resource. All the tasks currently start on the same day. The resource is set
to 90%. I'm trying to use leveling to move the tasks out based on the
resource having 90% of his day available for the task. There are no priorites
set on the tasks. Instead of
creating a stair case look, as I expected, leveling has put in delays and
moved tasks so they are seperated by a week of no work or are over allocated
in a given day.

Hi,

AFAIK Project Server does not do leveling; I suppose you mean Project Pro.
Can you send me the file at jandemesATprom-adeDOTbe, I'll have a look.

To all:

I received the file, leveled and behold, sorry, this is not true.
Leveling does not leave weeks without work.
Michael, you should have a look at the resource usage view, there is no gap
in resource load anywhere.
Due to standard priorities, some tasks down the list will happen mixed up
with tasks up the list, thus creating a gantt chartt view that is not
staircase-like but the resources are well loaded throughout.
And if you wnt a staircae look, for priority select ID only. Nice staircase,
I tried it!

Hope this helps,

Hi All,

I worked on this further because Mitchell kept getting the inconsistencies.
I can't explain this, but in this case leveling day by day gave excellent
results, whereas leveling hour by hour yielded errors.

With Jan's help, we were able to track down the problem.
The service pack for office, which includes project needed to be upgraded to
SP2. When this happened the problems went away.

Thanks Jan
