Leveling puts a leveling delay of 280.13 days

When one of my users tries to level, a delay of 280.13 days appears.
However, the resources are available for 40 hrs for the entire span of
the project. The user tried it again and this time tried Level only
within available slack, and the delay is removed. When I level on the
same project, with or without the Level only within available slack
option, no such delay occurs. Any ideas?

I have seen this type of behavior when the resource is overallocated across
multiple projects. If you want to level overallocations across all projects
in which this resource is assigned, you will either need to open all of
those projects and then level. If you wish to level only within the
selected project, do the following:

1. Close and relaunch Microsoft Project Professional
2. In the Project Server Accounts dialog, deselect the "Load summary
resource assignments" option
3. Click the Connect button
4. Open the project in question and level the overallocated resources

In either case, I would recommend that the user level only ONE overallocated
resource at a time using the Resource Usage view. This will allow the user
to take control over the leveling process. To view the results of leveling
each resource, click View - More Views - Leveling Gantt. Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thanks for responding, When I launch Project Professional 2003, I
don't see the "Load Summary Resource Assignments" option in the in the
Project Server Accounts Pop window (the one which allows you to select
which account you want to log in as). Nor do I see it under the
"Properties" screen. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

This indicates that you need to upgrade both Project Server 2003 and
Microsoft Project 2003 to SP2a. Hope this helps.
