Levelling after a tracking update

Hi,

I think this is what I want to do. I need to have my resource levelling
responsive to a reschedule of all uncompleted work after "today"
(I don't understand why this is even possible any other way, it implies
booking resources into the past)

So this updating to the "current date and beyond" puts a Start no earlier
constraint on every task. But what would cause a violation of that contraint
when entering actual work.

The routine I discovered this on is

Tools>tracking>Update>reschedule uncompleted to start after <today>

clear levelling across all tasks of a single resource.
level selected resource, allowing splits

All looks good at this stage but when I now enter actual work on a task it
throws a
warning saying this task starts before it's contraint.

Is this one of those nested check boxes on the Options>calculation screen
(status date)

got it,
has all to do with status date.

In my case, I had read about the impact of status date but don't really
understand it..
Effectively I really want the status date to be whenever project is used.
Therefore the status date has to be manually set eveytime
actuals are adjusted. How the adjustment of this date has to be timed with
actual collection via PS2003 has yet to be discovered.
