I have Office 97 on my computer installed from the original CD. However, at
the time I installed Office 97, I didn't install Excel . Now I am trying to
install Excel from the CD, but every time I try to start Office setup.exe, I
get the following message: "One of the library files needed to run
C:\Program\Micros\Office\Setup\ACME.EXE is damaged. Please reinstall this
application."
Anyone have any idea what this is about? Which library files? Where I might
get/find them? Which "application" they're talking about?
I've also tried to start Office setup through the Office menu already on my
computer, but I get the same message.
I tried to uninstall Office from my computer so I could re-install the whole
program including Excel. But when I clicked on the "remove" Office button at
Control Panel add-remove window, nothing happened. No removal, no message,
nothing. I assume the uninstall function is related to the install function
and may be missing the same library files.
Any ideas? TIA
