Licence for access not available in Office97?

I have just put a new operating system on my machine (Xp-
Pro), and after installing Office 97 complete I was not
allowed to run Access.Tha reason given was I didn't have a
licence installed. I have removed access individually and
the whole office suit, but still can't get permissionto
open and run. Any suggestions?
