Can anyone clarify whether the licence for MS Office (UK
academic) means I must only use all the programs of the
suite on the same computer or may I use for example
Powerpoint on my laptop and Word on my desktop?

All Office EULAs state that the product is a whole and cannot be separated
for use on different systems.

Please read your copy of your End Use License Agreement for Office very
carefully. It is something you agreed with Microsoft. I don't have a
copy of your agreement and won't make any assumptions about what your
agreement says.

My copy for commercial MS Office Pro 2003 (not for academic which is
what you have):

<quote>
1.1 Installation and use. You may:
(a) install and use a copy of the Software on one personal computer or
other device; and
(b) install an additional copy of the Software on a second, portable
device for the exclusive use of the primary user of the first copy of
the Software.
</unquote>

Read for yourself by running Menu: Help/About on one of the office
applications, e.g. Word and see what you have agreed.
