license agreement question

M

Matthew S.

I was looking on puting microsoft office 2007 on another computer in my
house. After reading my license agreement I was wondering if I need to buy
another copy? Just another license code? Or can I put this copy on up to 3
computers in my house (how I read it)?

Just install it on any machine you want and it will activate alright over the
internet. License agreements aren't worth the paper they are written on.
People who drafted them wanted to make quick bucks by spreading mumbo jumbo.

Bzzt! Wrong answer....

The truth depends on exactly which edition you bought. The Home & Student
edition allows up to three installations. The version that a computer vendor
installs on a new computer (called an OEM edition) is licensed only for that one
computer, and can't even be moved to another computer if that one is replaced.
Most other versions allow installation on one desktop and one laptop that
belongs to you.

If you think that "license agreements aren't worth the paper they are written
on" then I wish you luck when (a) you try to activate more installations than
your license allows or (b) you meet a Microsoft lawyer. <g>
