Licensing - Installation Problem

K

kurchian

I attempted to install Microsoft Office on my new computer located in
my bedroom. The new computer is networked to my main computer located
in my family room.

The installation didn't complete because I got an error message saying
that another copy of the software was detected in my network (My
family room computer).

So now I am faced with a major dilemna. Am i supposed to spend several
hundred dollars to buy another copy of MS Office for my second
computer?

What are the regulations on this matter?

If you read your license agreement, you'd find that you're allowed
to install Office on one desktop and one laptop at a time, as long
as you don't use the applications on both simultaneously.

So if you have two desktop computers, you'll need two licenses.

I am in the habit of keeping both machines on becuase they are on
different floors and I use them for different purposes. So what you
are saying is that MS office will be unavailable to me if I continue
this practice?
So does this mean if I leave Entourage open on machine A, then all of
MS Office is unavailable on machine B?

Yes. Or disconnect one from your network. Or buy Entourage X as a standalone
application if you must leave it on continually and still access other
Office v.X apps on another machine:

I have a related problem that I need help. I now have a second copy of
office with a new license that I'd like to install, but after deleting
office in the application folder, and then reinstalling, it didn't
clear up the duplicate license issue. Where is the file that I must
delete that contains the old license information so I can reenter the
new Key Code?

Thanks
