Licensing Issue

I recently purchased a new mac. My old mac is still on the network.
I installed Office 2004 on my new computer (the Office 2004 box said I
had 3 licenses).

When I try to use the programs, it gives me a message that Office is
already in use and it does not open any of the applications. I don't
have Office open on any other machine on the network and I still get
this message. Even if I did have it open on the other computer, it
should allow me to have 3 operating at the same time - right? This is
not making any sense to me, however there is one thing that I did that
may have messed this up a little.

I originally installed the program on the new computer with a newly
created user that I set up when I turned the computer on for the first
time. When I transferred my old user (and all my old data) over to my
new computer, I deleted the new user that I created when I first set
up the new mac and installed Office.

If this caused the problem how do I rectify it?

Finally, is there anyway I can go into each version and verify the
Product Key for that version?

Thanks,

Hi Mu86

It's not totally clear what your situation is, but this is how it is
supposed to work:

You don't have a single license that lets you run Office on three
computers simultaneously. Rather, you should have three licenses--three
separate license key/installation codes--I assume there are three
stickers on the back of the CD case, probably labeled Product Key. Use
a different code for each computer that you want to use Office on.

It doesn't sound like your new mac is using a different code. Get the
Product ID from the About window, and compare the two Product IDs. If
they are identical until you get to the last block of numbers, then both
computers are using the same license key.

To set a different license key on one of the computers:
"At least for later versions of Office 2004, launching the Remove Office
application, then holding down the Option key at the first dialog will
change the Continue Button to read Remove Licensing Information Only.
Click that button and you'll be able to enter your new key."

Note: there is no way to tell which license key you are already using.
Trial and error may be necessary.

Hope that helps,
Daiya
