Licensing Office 2003 on terminal server/Citrix

P

Patrick

Hi there,

I need some advice on office 2003 license running on Terminal Server/Citrix.
I have been receiving mixed information and need to be 100% compliant for
this project!

Example: I have 200 Computers, 50 Wyse Thin Clients and a total of 400 Users

I understand I need 200 Office licenses for 200 Computers for an unlimited
amount of users, in this case 250 to share these computers. (device based
license)
How many Office licenses do I need for the remaining 150 users sharing 50
Wyse Thin Clients? Per device or per user based office license?

Any more information needed, please let me know.
You help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Patrick

Our in house licensing is telling me that the thin client can't hold a
license and therefore it is user based, where the workstations can have a
license which makes it device based. (Based on my example below 350 office
licenses total)
The Citrix Consulting Company I have been in contact with to accomplish this
project tells me one license per device. (Based on my example 250 license
total)

That's why I felt to post this message and find out if other users have been
in my situation. If you're saying there is an offical source at Microsoft
that can answer this question you may have an email or phone # I can try.
Thanks again!!

From what I have experienced, all Citrix users require an Office licens
regardless if they are sharing computers or not...
However, Citrix is based purely on concurrent connections...

Hope this helps..

Caveat: Make sure you contact your vendors to get the true requirement
to be within the laws and don't take my post as an advis
