Licensing Question - Moving Office XP to a New Machine

I want to move my Office XP to a new machine. But I don't want to uninstall
it from the current machine until I've installed it on the new machine and
have checked it out. Will I be able to do that? Will MS give me a few days
of overlap so that I can check out the installation on the new machine. Or
will they send lawyers to my door?

PS: I have the original disk and product key.

Thanks, Bob

You normally have X amount of days or times of use before the programs will
go into reduced functionality mode if it isn't activated. So, yes, if
certain conditions are met you can install Office XP and use it until the
reduced function strikes.

The condition is that the product is NOT an OEM version of Office. Only
retail or Volume Licensed versions can be transferred to a different
computer "legally." If the installation disk says it is for sale only with
a new computer then it is an OEM version. If it came with the old computer
then it also is probably an OEM version.
