Licensing Question

G. Leavitt

I work for a large organization. One of our departments is doing testing for
2 weeks on some software that utilizes visio 2003. They feel that since they
are only using the software for a couple weeks they shouldn't need to buy
extra licenses especially considering we are going to be reghosting the
machines as soon as they are done. I however, am concerned about weather or
not that is the case from a legal standpoint. Can someone who understands
Microsoft's Licensing policies let me know if it is ok to install visio on
these machines for testing purposes without buying additional licenses?
Thanks.

I'd suggest you check with the vendor you are proposing to purchase the
software from,
or, consider installing a downloaded trial version from microsoft (since
that is supposed to be a free trial),
or, check with your corporate attorneys about how possible software piracy
should be handled (the assumption is that they read the license before
signing off on the purchase).
