Licensing

Hi,

I am a teacher. We also have a child who will be starting college very soon.

Question:
Can I purchase a license for multiple computers (3) using my
teacher/student discount?

Also, We like the features of MS_Office Standard edition. Can we use our
teacher/student discount for the standard addition rather than the
teacher/student addition? The standard addition offers more programs. And
of course, the multiple pc license issue applies for this as well.

Your questions about a discount need to be directed to wherever the discount
is applicable.

Office 2003 Standard is the same as Office 2003 Student and Teacher edition.
The STE can be installed on 3 systems. The retail version can be installed
on 1 desktop and 1 laptop.

Hi Rob,

There isn't an upgrade version of MS Office Home/Student, just everyday pricing at a lower figure :) so in that sense it's not
'upgradable', but *any* prior version of MS Office is currently a valid upgrade qualifier for any Office 2007 edition that has an
upgrade package.

Also purchasing any Office 2003 retail edition starting 26Oct2006 qualifies the purchaser for a low cost (shipping & handling only)
copy of the matching 2007 Office product when they're available.

Hi JoAnn,

My question with regard to this licensing issue is about Office 2007. It is
fan-tastic the student/teacher version can be installed on 3 pc's! The 2007
version of Office is different for the s/t edition and the standard addition.

Does the s/t deduction apply for the standard addition?

Is Office 2007 available now? If so, I would like to get it ASAP. And if
it is available now, how do I get it? According to the MS website, this can
only be purchased from a licensed supplier. It would be great if I could
simply download Office 2007 standard addition and have at it right away. And
of course I was hoping to get the s/t deduction for the standard addition.

Thanks,

We may have to change our phrasing on that. At this point that exclusion is
*not* given for Office 2007.

The list of 2007 Microsoft Office system editions is shown here,
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/FX101635841033.aspx

MS 'suggested' retail pricing (for the U.S.) here.
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/FX101754511033.aspx

MS Office 2007 Home and Student Edition content, as you mentioned, is not the same as the Standard Edition for the 2007 set. Home
and Student has MS Office OneNote, MS Office Standard edition has MS Office Outlook instead of one note, but email and calendar
features are available as part of the free website from MS on http://officelive.com

The 2007 Office products should be available for download of a trial edition starting the beginning of December and in stores early
in 2007.

I don't know who's offering you a discount on Office software so you really
need to check with them.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for all the info.

But I gotta ask...
How did you know my first name was Rob? I use my nick when requesting info
for many online things. Why? Who knows. Maybe simply because I think the
nick is kinda cool. But how did you know Kemosabe? <grin>

Have you got similar info for pirated/cracked versions? People seem to
like cracked/pirated versions as they tend to make a little bit smaller
dent to their bank balance!!!! The info is great. Does MVP stand for Most Valuable Pirate?
