Licensing.

Have a question about licensing for Office 2003.

Most of the computers at our company have office 2003 professional
installed, though only the following applications.
Word, Excel Outlook,

We have licences for ALL of the computers but for Office 2003 Basic which
contains those same applications (word, excel, outlook)

Now the question is. Do we have to uninstall-and install office basic with
those license keys that we have? or in an event of an audit and we have 2003
pro (only with word, excel and outlook) but we have 2003 basic licenses
will we get in trouble?

I have no Idea why the past sysadmin installed pro instead of the already
licensed office 2003 basic on all computers.
So this is my task for the day.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
JC.

How did "the past sysadmin" acquire licenses for
Office Professional 2003? Is the license genuine?
To find out, use one of the computers running
Office Professional 2003 and visit:
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/office/whyvalidate.aspx
and click on "Validate Now".

I have no Idea how he did that.

The thing is that we have licenses (with the install cdroms) and just wonder
if the office 2003 pro systems can be updated with the 2003 basic licenses,
or if we stay like this it's ok. of if we will have to uninstall pro and
install basic with it's key for each one on all machines.

Thanks.

You'll need to uninstall Office Professional 2003 and then
install Office Basic 2003.
