Lies Word Help Told Me

Word Help (2004 for Mac) declares that when the Use Wildcards checkbox is
checked the Find dialog, the you can't use ^p to denote a carriage return
and must instead use ^13 (the equivalent code). But it doesn't work when I
try it. What am I doing wrong?

To find a carriage return with "use wildcards" checked, type
backslash-n.

Great, that works. How about "start of paragraph" or "any alphanumeric
string of any length"?

Never mind. I found it. It worked great! Geez, I sure wish Word had better
documentation. I also wish it were possible to:

a) save your search/replace routines
b) keep the Help and search/replace windows open at the same time

Oh, well! I'll request those features....

You can. Before you do the search, start recording a macro. Do the
search. Stop recording the macro. Done!
b) keep the Help and search/replace windows open at the same time

You can. m.

Yes, you can. Type command-F to open the Find and Replace button. Now
click in the main document (so that the focus is there, and not in the
Find and Replace dialog). Now choose Help > Word Help. Done! Now three
windows are open: the document, the Find and Replace dialog, and the
Help window. m.

I can too. You probably need to do some manual adjusting of the F&R and the
Help windows to see them both at the same time.
