Limit access to database

Hello all,

I am wondering what would be the best way to limit people
who do not have a user ID and password that is assigned to
a mdw file access to the database.

In other words restrict someone from just double click on
the MDB file and having the database open and them having
admin rights.

I have done this in the past by setting up a shortcut on
their desktop so that they would not even have to try and
just open up the file. Seems like some users are getting
smarter now.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

John,

From what you have described, it does not sound like user-
level security was implemented properly. I would highly
recommend reading the Security FAQ doc several times at

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/support%
2faccess%2fcontent%2fsecfaq.asp

Any future questions that you have on this, would be best
served by sending them to the Security newsgroup.

Good Luck

Hope you find the Security Faq helpful. I would focus on
item #1 (steps for setting up security) and #19
initially. #19 explains how to work with both secured and
unsecured apps at the same time via a workgroup switch.
No problem about your posting, just wanted you to be aware
of a better forum for you questions.
