Limit Attachments Being Downloaded

I have O2003. I will be traveling and will be using a cellphone to
connect so I can send/receive emails. I have my send/receive settings
for my inbox to download headers only.

I have also turned off the reading pane since it seems when turned on
and I click on the message, the entire message gets downloaded.

Also, I am not downloading any pictures.

I also have a view to see the size and if any attachments.

What I would like to do is use the auto preview (no reading pane) to
see the first few lines of the email, however, it seems Outlook only
shows a preview after the full message has downloaded. If there
happens to be a message, that too is also downloaded.

Is there a way to see only a first few lines of a message or say only
download a max size of any message (then download the whole thing if
needed).
