Limit on Number of controls on a form ?

R

Rob

I am not quite sure what this means..

MS Access apparently has the following limitation...

Number of controls and sections you can add over the lifetime of the form or
report = 754

Does that mean that if you added 10 controls, then deleted them, you would
have "burned" a 10 count of controls ?

A friend of mine is having trouble with a form that has around 250 controls.
It starts giving him trouble when he attempts to save it. Sometimes it
gets to a point where he can no longer open the form in design mode. There
are no error messages, just nothing happens...

Are there any tricks to reset the number ? May he copy the fields to a new
form in order to reduce the lifetime count ?

Thanks !

Basically, Yes if you have added controls and saved the change and then
deleted them then you have used up the slots.

Copying all the controls over to a new form and all the code etc. will let
you free up some slots.

John offers a way to reset the counter.

Now, why? If you'll describe a bit more specifically the nature of that
many controls, it may be that folks here can offer more specific suggestions
for alternate solutions. After all, how user-friendly is it to stuff 200+
controls on a single screen?<g>

Well, if you use tab control it won't be so bad. But then usually I'd
have lots of subforms too which should each but their own control.

Does a compact and Repair help? All the information in Access is stored in
system tables which are hidden from the user. A compact would get rid of
deleted records.
