Limit the File/Open dialog to one departement and one resource.

Hello,

We expect to create several databases on the same server, one database for
each departement of our organization. We expect that the list of projects in
the File/Open dialog will be limited to one departement and the resource as
well. Could you confirm that ?

Thanks for help.

Regards.

Newbie.

You should use the EditSite tool for this purpose. You can download this
file at the following URL:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...3e-54e1-40a9-9bb8-2dd293226b6f&DisplayLang=en

After you download and unzip the EditSite tool, be sure and read the
documentation included with the tool. The documenatation will tell you how
to create seprate Project Server databases and then how to create a separate
Project Server instance from each database. This will allow each department
to use their own Project Server instance, with their own resources and their
own projects only. Hope this helps.

Hi would add, why using multiple databases ? You can do that using
Project Server security (categories and groups).

If you want each department to use a different method of tracking, you
definitely need to use multiple Project Server instances. Hope this helps.

All of the steps are listed in the Word document that is included with the
EditSite tool. They are too numerous to detail in a message in this group.
Before you use the EditSite tool, you will need to decide whether each
Project Server instance will need its own WSS database, or whether they will
share a single WSS database. Hope this helps.

Sorry for the misuse of my boss's identity: Gerard is traveling in the
Indian Ocean and has no access to Internet. I'm reading his mails for
him....
