Limit users from seeing other published projects on the web.

How do I limit which project a user can view on the Project Server? For
example, more than one department uses our project server. I don’t want my
users to see the other departments project plan when they go into the
“Project†link from the web.

You would need to create a custom Group and Category for each department.
You will need to add the PM's to the correct department's Group and you will
need to manually add each department's projects to the correct Category.
You may also need to remove the PM's entirely from the default Project
Managers group.

I must forewarn you that this will be a very "labor intensive" solution,
given the fact that any time a new project is added to the Project Server
database, you will then need to add that project to the correct Category.
There is no automatic way to do this, unfortunately. Hope this helps.

Joe,

I've done the following to achieve what you are looking for:

1. Create security groups for each department
2. Probably you can create a custom view for each group (filter projects by
outline code used for department). Add this view to the respective security
group created above.
3. Add PMs to their respective security group (they can still be a part of
my projects).

Now these PMs would get their respective view in project center which would
show them projects of their dept.

PS: You need to add all (new/ old) PMs to their security group.

Hope this helps.

Sumit

We have also taken Sumit's approach, and it's much easier to maintain and
administer.
