Limited Functionality of BMC

V

Versailles

Hi All:

Can somebody please tell me why my BMC seems so liminted in functionality?
For instance, I have only two tabs (General and Details), I can't find a
place to create Business Notes, and in the "Business Contact History"
section, it just displays e-mail that is sitting in my In-Box.

Your help is much appreciated.

You've got a forms cache problem. It happens with BCM sometimes. Use the
following steps to fix it.

Choose the Tools menu.
choose Options.
Click the Other tab.
Click Advanced Options
Click Custom Forms
Manage Forms
Clear Cache

That problem is part of a large bug with ActiveSync. The problem isn't
actually BCM believe it or not :) What happens is, ActiveSync starts a
no-UI version of Outlook so that it can sync with your Inbox. Then when
Outlook does start (when you click on the icon), it thinks it's already
loaded so it doesn't load the add-in (BCM).

Sorry for your frustration. I don't have an answer for when BCM v.2 will be
out, but I can tell you that it's more stable, has more features, and is
generally a large improvement.

Thanks for your explanation, Paricia. I went for a jog to blow off some steam.

I know all software has bugs. I just wish MS had a better help web site
that could bring me to the source of the problem without me having to search
for that needle in a hay stack on my own. If Activesync knows it has a bug,
why not "push" that information to me, rather than have me go looknig for it?

I'll will wait a little longer for these fixes. I hope that my faithfulness
to MS will pay off.

Have a good weekend.
