Limited text highlight colour in Word 2007

Microsoft Office Word 2007 (12.0.6504.5400) SP2 MSO (12.0.6425.1000)
Part of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007

In Word 2007, under the fonts ribbon, 'Text Hightlight Color' icon only
shows limited range of colours. With 'Font Color' icon, a much wider range
of colours are available to select.

However, in Excel 2007, both the font colour and background colour (Theme)
shares the same wide range of colours.

Office 2007 Service Pack 2 and all patches installed. Is the lack of
background text colour in Word 2007 designed by default or am I missing
something? Please could you advice, many thanks in advance,

"Highlight" and "Background" are different animals. To get a full range of
"background" colors, use text "shading." Find this in the Borders and
Shading dialog accessible from the menu you get when you click the arrow
beside the Border button (which unfortunately cannot be accurately described
because its appearance and ScreenTip change depending on which border you
have used most recently, but it is in the bottom right corner of the
Paragraph group on the Home tab).

In the dialog, select the Shading tab, make sure that "Apply to" is set to
"Text" or "Paragraph" as desired (or "Cell" if the text is in a table), and
then select the desired color.
