Limiting document repository alerts

I have a project team that has created a complex document folder structure in
EPM. Team members would like to receive email notification if there has been
a change to a document within a sub folder (or sub, sub, sub folder to be
more accurate). When they enable "alert me" within the sub folder of
interest they receive notifications for all sub folders.

Is there a way to limit email notification to a sub folder within a document
repository and not the entire document repository?

Thanks,

I think your users might be clicking the 'Alert Me' link on left navigation
under Actions. That will notify them for any document change in any folder.

To get notification for a particular folder:

1. navigate to that location in WSS till you are see the folder name.
2. Move your mouse over the folder name in the list & you'll see an arrow on
right of that folder name
3. Clicking the arrow will bring a drop down style window
4. Select 'Alert me' from that drop down to get notification for that
particular folder.

Check this screenshot for clarity

In the pic, I'm under 'Testing' folder (see on top). Within that folder I've
subfolders. I want to be notified for only '__ Test' folder. Don't use 'Alert
me' on left

I hope this will help.

Thanks Faisal,

This got us one step closer. What we found was that changes made to the
folder name (i.e. changing frmo _Test to Test) would generate an alert. A
cahnge to a document within the folder would not generate an alert. But, by
following your steps at the file level within the folder we were able to
generate an alert if the individual file changed.

Thanks!

Mark.
