Limiting the Project Workspace List

[Projectability]

Has anyone been confronted with the challenge of the Workspace WebPart on the PWA home page having an overwhelming list of workspaces and if so is there a way to exclude workspaces on closed projects or would that be a natural outcome when "retiring" completed projects?
