Limiting Work Time with Extended Duration

Marice

I am trying to create a plan where I track Work and Actual Work with the
Remaining Work and Duration being automatically calculated. This all works
fine, but I also want to have finite Start and Finish dates. Everytime I
change the Start and Finish Dates the Work is re-calculated. Any assistance
would be most appreciated.

Hi Marice,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Trevor has given you some excellent advice. Be also advised that entering
dates should be taboo. Project's job is to calculate the dates for you
based on Durations and precedences. When tracking, you are right in
entering Actual Work, but Project cannot know what the Remaining Work is.
You must ask the resource to estimate the Remaining Work, whence Project
will do the recalculations for you.

Thanks.)
